the Misty Iris

I am a Country Living magazine junky. So once I've seen that they were have a fair in New York... I had to go! What a great experience, I can't wait for next year. I'll definitely reserve two days for it.

This is one of my favorite purchases. It was a trunk for a lighting equipment. It's really great not only because it looks great in my living room, but it fits all my photo albums. AND has a tray shelf on top inside where you can put remotes and what nots... love #countryliving

Black eyed susans, next to irises are my favorite flower. Irises remind me of my childhood home where we had a large iris garden during late May.

And black eyed susans remind me of the lake house in Massachusetts that I went to with my family as a child for two summers. They lined a section of the long driveway leading up to the house.

Luckily, the house that I bought had irises planted in a few locations (including around my mailbox). So that took care of that need. But no black eyed susans. My first spring in my new home I was determined to have black eyed susans in my gardens. Even nursed them as small seedlings inside with no success in transferring them outside.

This year I decided to put my energies elsewhere. And then I noticed some peculiar leaves in my garden while weeding that I decided to leave them to see if they were anything 'special'. And lo & behold some black eyed susan flowers decide to show up :-)

Since one of my life agenda's is to become a great seamstress I realize that I have a lot to learn. A woman that I worked with suggested taking free quilting class that meets once a month at the local library. So I decided to try it. Not only did all the women of the class appreciate someone my age show up to more than two classes committed; but I'm really learning basic fundamental techniques. This was taken about a month & half ago. I will document my further progress soon.
